Our History.
Since our inception in 2019, Studio Hot Wok has evolved from a small university project into a dynamic creative hub. Originally starting as Level 11 Design, our focus has shifted over the years, leading to the birth of Studio Hot Wok in 2023.
Throughout our journey, we've embraced change, continuously refining our services to meet the growing demand for innovative, tangible media solutions. Today, we stand as a pioneer in 3D additive manufacturing in Perth, WA , combining creativity with cutting-edge technology to bring our clients' visions to life.

Founded in 2019 as a university passion project by a diverse group of independent designers from across Perth, The Studio originated as a collaborative hub. Our goal was to foster the exchange of ideas and knowledge across various design disciplines, including animation, modeling, and film.
After successfully achieving its initial objectives in 2020, The Studio entered a period of hiatus to restructure and navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic. During this time, our designers pursued independent ventures, drawing on the successes of 2019, which left the studio in a state of dormancy.

In 2022, following the pandemic, The Studio made the strategic decision to relaunch as a more focused and scaled-down operation. During this transition, we redefined our approach to provide a more personal and direct service to our clients, concentrating on individual brands and helping them achieve their full potential. This shift allowed us to gain deeper insights into the people behind the brands, offering personalized services unmatched by other studios in Perth.
As the year unfolded, we embraced our brand ethos of continuous upskilling. This commitment led us to incorporate elements of 3D animation and design, further expanding into CAD, 3D printing, laser engraving, and vinyl cutting. These advancements enabled us to transform our clients' 2D designs into tangible, tactile mediums.

By late 2023, we launched Studio Hot Wok, a sub-brand of The Studio dedicated to the creation of tangible media, including 3D prints, vinyl-cut laminated stickers, and custom cards. This offshoot allowed us to explore unconventional and whimsical designs that didn’t align with the original studio’s tone of voice. With this expansion came the establishment of online stores, a focus on social media presence, and the development of mechanical expertise to maintain production equipment.
For a time, both The Studio and Studio Hot Wok operated in tandem—one handling professional graphic work and the other focusing on more playful creations. While this system was effective, it proved to be overly complex and limited the flexibility between services.

As we entered 2024, it became evident that the demand for Studio Hot Wok's services far surpassed that of our original offerings. By mid-2024, we made the strategic decision to cease operations for The Studio and shift our focus entirely to Studio Hot Wok. This transition involved absorbing all services and clients from The Studio, with an emphasis on the tangible aspects of our business. The unique appeal of our 3D services became increasingly clear as they addressed more practical, everyday challenges.
In line with this decision, we invested heavily in the latest 3D additive manufacturing equipment and expanded our expertise in various CAD applications. This allowed us to venture into prototyping, design, and leveraging our extensive experience in design processes and critical thinking.
While The Studio has been fully integrated into Studio Hot Wok’s ecosystem, we continue to offer our full range of services to the public. However, these are no longer the primary focus of Hot Wok.
Our Additive Workflow.
At Studio Hot Wok, our additive manufacturing workflow is designed for efficiency and precision, allowing us to rapidly draft, iterate, test, and develop parts for a wide range of mechanical applications. Our process begins with swift CAD modeling using our up-to-date software tools.
We employ a flexible, iterative approach, enabling us to quickly refine designs and make adjustments based on real-time feedback. Once a design is finalized, we utilize state-of-the-art 3D additive manufacturing equipment to produce prototypes that are rigorously tested for functionality and durability.
This streamlined process minimizes downtime by ensuring that parts can be rapidly developed and deployed, reducing lead times and keeping your operations running smoothly.
Whether you need a single prototype or a series of components, our workflow is tailored to deliver high-quality results with speed and precision.

After receiving the part to be replicated or the green light to start designing, we take your idea and translate it into 3D space using CAD.

We take that drawing and manufacture it, provide a test fit to existing hardware to identify issues and revise accordingly.

After rounds to development we manufacture the final component out of the appropriate material.

We deliver your product with the same level of care as we have throughout the entire design process.
Our Graphic Workflow.
We take design in our own distinct direction and aim to create unique solutions based on your needs taking a holistic and human approach. We apply ourselves on the ability to “Zag” while the rest of the design industry “Zig’s” and aim to take a different approach all the time. This is reflected in our studio workflow.
When we partner with a client, we are fully committed to delivering a personalized, one-on-one experience. We understand that each client is unique, and we embrace that uniqueness in every project. From the initial quote to the final product, we maintain open communication throughout each design phase, ensuring that your quality standards are met at every stage.
We don’t charge until the project is delivered, and we take the time to educate you on design terminology, marketing concepts, and the systems we use. By the end of your experience with us, you'll have a deeper understanding of your brand and its direction. We offer consultations and general design advice to everyone, ensuring you receive the guidance you need.
At Studio Hot Wok, all work is by appointment only, allowing us to focus on your brand without distractions.

Throughout the years, Studio Hot Wok has undergone changes, mergers with existing brands and many different clienteles from wall walks and industries but we can safely say that out brand ethos and commitment has never changed since day one.
